The invention discloses a new kind of polypeptide - mitochondrial carrier 12 and polynucleotide encoding said polypeptide and a process for producing said polypeptide by DNA recombinant methods. It also discloses the method of applying the polypeptide for the treatment of various kinds of diseases, such as cancer, hemopathy, HIV infection and immune disease, and phlogosis. The antagonist and the therapeutic use of the polypeptide is also disclosed. In addition, it refers to the use of polynucleotide encoding said mitochondrial carrier 12.
