The device consists of a sill, which a driver has to drive over when turning into a road against the correct traffic direction. It has a box-shaped part (1), which is lowered into the road surface, with a flat top (6), having a hinge on the level of the road surface. The flap is pivoted by the wheels of a motor vehicle, and a signal and/or a warning surface is triggered by the pivot movement. When erected, the flap has an inclined ascending surface on one side, and a step on the other side.
