The device has a first rotary and tensioning device for the internal finishing, and a second rotary and tensioning device for the external finishing. These two devices are designed as independent units and at least one is mounted to move relative to the other in the direction of the centre axis of the parcel (3) of blanks being finished from a work position into a hand-over position and back again. The work positions of the devices are axially spaced from each other so that external finishing of a first parcel can be carried out on the second device whilst the internal finishing of the second parcel is carried out on the first device.
