A card stack reader, a card thereof, a card case, a method for manufacturing a card, a game machine using the same, and a computer-readable recorded medium on which a game program is recorded are disclosed. The card stack reader comprises imaging means for imaging the front side edge of a stack of cards each having a read code for specifying the card along the front side edge and code recognizing means for recognizing the read code of each card imaged by the imaging means. Therefore it is possible to read the code on the stack as it is. The cards are free from damage and stain, and the reading time is short.
