An installation which is designed for sorting of centre cuts 2 of centre-split pig carcasses into right and left pieces, comprises a conveyor belt 1 for common supplying of right and left pieces 2 with them lying mainly athwart the belt with the rind side downward at the belt. At the downstream end, the belt has a transfer area 1a for right and left pieces. Two conveyor belts 13 arrange to carry away the right and left pieces, respectively, and each one has a receiving area 13a which is placed at the transfer area 1a of the supply belt. The installation has a first stop arrangement 3 and a second stop arrangement 4, each of them having a stopping surface 3a, 4a designed for one side of the centre cut, which in the receiving position of the arrangements above the transfer area 1a of the supply belt goes primarily across the lengthwise direction of the supply belt 1. The first arrangement 3 is situated upstream of the second arrangement 4 in the receiving position of the arrangements. Two clamping parts 7, 8, each one belonging to its own stop arrangement, are placed in the receiving position of the arrangements between them at a distance from the supply belt 1 and go primarily across the lengthwise direction of the supply belt. Driving devices 9, 10 in the receiving position of the stop arrangements are designed to move the clamping parts 7, 8 each one against its stop arrangement 3, 4, and a transport device 6 is designed to move the first and the second stop arrangement from the receiving position above the transfer area 1a of the supply belt to the one or the other receiving area 13a of the removal belt, respectively. The distance of the clamping parts 7, 8 from the belt 1 in the receiving position is such that the one clamping part during the movements of the clamping parts of the driving devices comes up against the ribs at the loin of a centre cut and moves the back side of the centre cut from a properly centre-split carcass into clamping securement between the clamping part and the corresponding stopping surface of the stop arrangement, while the other clamping part slides along the breast part of the centre cut. <IMAGE>
