A cleat has a base(1) carrying posts(41,42), a cam element(3) being mounted on each post. Each cam element comprises an outer shell(10) formed of a rigid material adapted to grip a rope. The shell has spaced apart portions(11,12) defining a gap between them, each portion defining an aperture(15,16) having a diameter larger than the diameter of a post. A plug(20) of resilient material is inserted in the gap(13). A plug defines an aperture(24) which has radially inwardly directed projections(25), the inner ends of the projections lying on a circle has a diameter which is less than the diameter of the apertures(15,16). When the cam element(3) is mounted on the post(42) the inner ends of the projections(25) provide a bearing. <IMAGE> <IMAGE> |
