<p>An algorithm is disclosed for optimal routing and wavelength assignment in a bi-directional wavelength division multiplexed purely optical ring network of arbitrary size. The algorithm uses the minimum possible number of wavelengths to achieve full connectivity among all network access stations on the ring network. The routing rule is applicable to ring networks accessed through either one or two access fiber-pairs (102, 103) per network access station.</p> |
