1340928 Two-part couplings REI INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 24471/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division F1] A device for raising the potential of an energized sparking plug lead 22 in an ignition system for an internal combustion engine comprises coupler 10 between each lead and the distributer 15, each coupler having an inductor 80, Fig. 2, and the inductor being interconnected by a conductive lead 12. The inductor comprises a split sleeve held around and insulated from a central conducting tube 43. The tube 43 has a socket 44 at one end and a resilient connector clip 45 soldered at the other, the clip 45 making contact in the distributer cap, and having its end 45c resting in a recess 50. A skirt of insulating material 51 which holds the coupler on the distributer terminal 13 by means of ridges 70, Fig. 3, is glued with an epoxy compound to the base 40 of the coupler, the ridge 41 holding the skirt in position. The split sleeve may be soldered to the bared wire portion 12b or held against it by the compressive forces of the skirt; notches 81 being provided in the skirt to pass the wire out from the coupler. The couplers may be arranged in a ring as shown or alternatively in a string. |
