Apparatus for stirring, homogenizing and conditioning a flowable medium comprises a rod-like stirrer (4) having a shaft (4.1) and a medium-stirring stirrer core (4.2) and a stirrer vessel (4.3) which encloses the core leaving an annular chamber. The vessel has a feed and a run-off which lie in different planes running to the longitudinal axis (4.4) of the stirrer. The medium-contacting surfaces of the wall of the stirrer and the core are structured so that the annular chamber cross-section tapers in the flow direction. Preferred Features: The stirrer vessel is partly cylindrical. The core has the structure of an extending cone along the cylindrical part of the vessel.
