Method and apparatus for impairment diagnosis in communication systems

A system and method for managing the upstream and downstream data in a communication system, in which management agents are provided and implemented in the Network Access Management System (1010), the access multiplexers (1030) and the user equipments (1040), providing the user the capability to analyze, diagnose and compensate for the interferences and/or impairments. It also provides the user the ability to predict and optimize performance of the communication system in the face of impairments.
