Device for working tube ends

The equipment is esp. for thread-cutting. It has cutters sliding radially in a head turning coaxially round the end of the pipe while this is clamped in position. Tool feed movement is generated by axial thrust rods (7) evenly spaced round the periphery and coupled to a common sliding frame at one end. At the other end, a deflector converts rod movement into radial tool movement. The inclined teeth (10) in the ends of the rods engage with mating ones (11) in the deflector (12) which can consist of a coaxial ring round the pipe end and which is turned by the rods. This has cam tracks (14) in its end face towards the pipe and which work with mating portions on the sliding tools (3). Adjacent cam tracks can be inclined in opposite directions, and they can consist of bars clamped between two preloaded overhung rollers (15,16) on the tools.
