1297422 Transition-metal complexes; dimeric organic compounds; organometallic compounds HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc 20 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8325/70 Headings C2C and C2J Novel complexes of the formula wherein Me is a metal of groups Vb, VIb, VIIb or VIII of the Periodic Table, R is an olefin, or an aromatic compound, R 1 is a functionally substituted halogenated organic compound, n and m are 0 to 5, p is from 1 to 6 and the sum m+ n+p is greater than 1 and less than 7, are obtained either (a) by reacting appropriate metal carbonyls with olefins (R) and halogenated compounds (R 1 ) in a molar ratio of R 1 Me of at least 1:1 and R : Me of 1:100 to 100:1 at 20‹ to 150‹ C. or (b) by reacting metal olefin compounds of the formula Me(CO) q R s , wherein q is from 0 to 5 and s is from 1 to 6 and the sum q+s is greater than 1 and less than 7, with halogenated compounds (R 1 ) in a molar ratio of R 1 : Me of from 1:1 to 100:1 at 20‹ to 150‹ C. Dimeric compounds (R 1 -R 1 ) may be obtained by reacting complexes of the above formula with inert solvents and/or functionally substituted halogenated organic compounds at 80‹ to 225‹ C. The complex may be used as such or it may be obtained in situ by either of methods (a) or (b) above, the dimer thereby being obtained directly from the functionally substituted organic compound. |
