PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass sheet holding device capable of preventing occurrence of dust in putting in or out the glass sheet or damage of the glass sheet. SOLUTION: There are provided a casing 10, an endless belt 11 for supporting a weight of a glass sheet G inserted into the casing, a plurality of holding rollers 13 brought into contact with the upper end of the glass sheet from its both sides, a pair of drums 13, 14 applying a predetermined tension to the endless belt and supporting it in its longitudinal direction in such a way that it can run, and a plurality of supporting blocks 15 spaced apart at the surface of the endless belt in a longitudinal direction and having the lower end of the glass sheet mounted thereon. The endless belt is forced to run in compliance with the inserting operation of the glass sheet when the glass sheet is inserted while mounting it on the supporting block.
