PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect from a snow wall a dust boot fitted over one end of a rack shaft passing through a power cylinder and projecting in the direction of a wheel house in a center take-off hydraulic power steering device. SOLUTION: In the center take-off hydraulic power steering device 1, a pair of right and left tie rods 5 and 5 have their respective inner ends located at approximately the center of a vehicle body and the one end of the rack shaft 4 serving also as a power piston rod passes through the power cylinder 13 and projects in the direction of the wheel house, and the dust boot 15 is fitted between the one end of the rack shaft 4 and on end of the housing of the power cylinder 13. A boot guard 16 for shielding the surface of the dust boot 15 facing the wheel house is mounted integrally with the one end of the rack shaft 4. The boot guard 16 is made of a metallic disc.
