PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for automobile capable of controlling temperature properly without decreasing blow amount. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises a blower 10, an evaporator 30, a heater core 40, an air mixing door 50, a unit case 60 adapted to contain all of these, a cold wind by-pass 65 where air having passed through the evaporator 30 flows, a warm wind passage 66 where air having passed through the heater core 40 flows and an air mixing chamber 68 where downstream air of the cold wind by-pass 65 mixes with that of the warm wind passage 66. The blower 10 is positioned on an upper side of the evaporator 30 in a vehicular vertical direction V. The evaporator 30 is positioned on a front side of the heater core 40 in a vehicular vertical direction H. The air mixing chamber 68 is positioned downstream the air mixing door 50. A warm wind by-pass 67 adapted to guide part of downstream air of the heater core 40 to the air mixing chamber 68 is formed on both side face parts of the unit case 60. A dimension of the air mixing chamber 68 in a vehicular transverse direction is larger than that of the cold wind by-pass 65.
