PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chuck capable of enhancing rigidity of a chuck main unit without weakening tool clamp force. SOLUTION: In this chuck, constituted by forming a chuck cylinder 3 formed with an external peripheral surface in tapered shape, shank part 4 fitted to a spindle 8, and a flange part 5 respectively in a tip end side of a chuck main unit 2, in its rear end side, and in the intermediate between the chuck cylinder 3 and the shank part 4, and externally fitting a rotary cylinder 7 for tightening through a needle roller 6 to the chuck cylinder 3, an annular recessed groove 9 for fitting a rear end part 7a of the rotary cylinder 7 for tightening is formed in a chuck cylinder side end face 5a of the flange part 5.
