PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner, with which the direction of electric cleaner equipped with a handle is easily changed and the surface of a floor is not damaged by the terminal part of a suction part, and which is improved in usability. SOLUTION: In a handle 6 composed of a supporting shaft 7 and a grip part 8, the grip part 8 is freely rotated in respect to the supporting shaft 7. Thus, even when twisting power is applied to the grip part 8 more than needed to try to change the direction of a main body 1 to left or right, the grip part 8 is freely rotated and burden to the wrist is reduced. Further, since the end face of a sucking port 2 is not floated by twisting power, the surface of the floor is not damaged.
