PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided not only to improve the performance and the efficiency of display discharge but also to prolong a lifetime of the driven plasma display panel. CONSTITUTION: A scan pulse(6) is applied to a corresponding Y electrode line of each sub-field and at the same time a corresponding display data signal(Sa1..m) is applied to each address electrode line, and thus wall charges are formed in pixels to be displayed. Then, display discharge pulses(21,51,22,52) are applied to all the X and Y electrode lines, and thus display discharge is occurred in the pixels where wall charges are formed. And, X display discharge pulses(22,52) applied simultaneously to X electrode lines begin at an end point of Y display discharge pulses(21,51) applied simultaneously to Y electrode lines. Therefore, a reset or addressing performance can be increased by assuring a reset or an addressing time after the end of the X display discharge pulses.
