DOCKING SYSTEM OF PORTABLE COMPUTER

PURPOSE: A docking system is provided to enable a portable computer and a docking station to execute application programs at real time, and share the data and peripherals by improving common bus structure between the portable computer and the docking station. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a portable computer(30), a docking station(50), the first signal transmission unit(40) and the second signal transmission unit(60). The docking station can not be operated independently because it has no microprocessor and no memory. The portable computer(30) is operated by the second operating system, and then is operated by the first operating system in the case that the portable computer is docked with the docking station(50). A docking controller(33), installed at the portable computer(30), selects the second operating system stored in a ROM by sensing a docking state between the first signal transmission unit(40) and the second signal transmission unit(60) and then resetting a microprocessor when the portable computer(30) is docked with the docking station(50).
