PURPOSE: A thermal transfer recording medium is provided, which prevents a damage of a thermal head of a bar cord printer and a facsimile by preventing a mirror image and a fusion splicing with a thermal head due to the increase of a temperature and by preventing the contamination of a head due to a friction with the head. CONSTITUTION: The thermal transfer recording medium includes a base film(11), and a heat resistant protection layer(12) formed on one surface of the base film, and a thermal sensitive transfer layer(13) formed on another surface of the base film. The heat resistant protection layer includes a silicon-acryl copolymer. A molecular weight of the silicon in the silicon-acryl copolymer is 10000-80000, and a ratio of silicon/acryl is 10/90 or 60/40.
