PURPOSE: The titled sea-island type conjugate fiber improved in an alkali dissolution rate by blending a specified amount of polyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of more than 8,000 is provided, which has excellent abrasion resistance, feeling touch and external appearance and is useful as yarn for the manufacture of raised warp knitted fabric. CONSTITUTION: In sea-island type conjugate fiber prepared by using an easily alkali-soluble polymer as a sea component and conventional polyesters as a land component and spin-drawing, the fiber has a composition blended with (i)polyester copolymerized by an ester unit containing metal sulfonate on an ester unit of ethylene terephthalic acid and (ii)polyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of above 8,000, wherein yarn strength is maintained at above 82% after the dissolution of the sea component.
