PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute an escalator minimizing a rebuilding construction of an existing stair, in particular, excellent in operability and suitable for supporting an upper frame body and a lower frame body constituting a main frame. SOLUTION: In an escalator 1 constituted of a main frame 5 from a lower floor 1D to an upper floor 1U, the escalator 1 is constituted so as to provide a roof 1B held in strength by the main frame 5 on the upper side of the escalator 1, to provide an upper frame body 13 on the upper side of a stair 2, to provide a lower frame body 16 on the lower side of the stair 2, to connect the upper frame body 13 and the lower frame body 16 by a supporting body 13E and to support the lower frame body 16 by a support 16E.
