PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method of objective measurement capable of stable measurement in a wide range by stabilizing the light receiving condi tion from an eye to be examined, etc. at the time of the measurement. SOLUTION: This device of objective measurement comprises a measuring optical system 1 for scanning/projecting measurement light to an eye E to be examined, a light receiving part 18, and a measured value operation part 42. The light receiving part 18 has plural photoelectric transfer elements for receiving the light reflected on the eye E and outputting signals of a size corresponding to the quantity of the received light. The measured value operation part 42 operates the refracting power of the eye E based on the phase difference of signals outputted from each pair of the photoelectric transfer elements. The device also has a stabilizing control part 43, which controls the measuring optical system 1 and/or the measured value operation part 42 based on the output from the photoelectric transfer elements and/or the measured value operation part 42 for stabilizing the size of signals to be taken into the measured value operation part 42 from the photoelectric transfer elements.
