METHOD FOR ESTIMATING LOCATION OF TERMINAL IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for estimating the location of a terminal in a mobile communication system is provided to confirm the location of a terminal by constructing a database for the strength and delay characteristics of a multipath signal for a pilot signal received to a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A base station broadcasts an FA(Frequency Assignment) area in which a mobile terminal receives a pilot and calculates a path difference(S61). The mobile terminal receives the broadcasted FA area(S62) and determines whether the mobile terminal will execute pilot long integration in the currently received FA(S63). In case that the mobile terminal determines to execute pilot long integration in the currently received FA, the mobile terminal measures the strength of a pilot signal from each base station and determines whether TDOA can be executed(S65). If it is possible to execute TDOA, the mobile terminal transmits a delay time for the shortest path for each base station and each base station identifier to each base station(S67). Each base station sends received signal information to a location confirmation center(S68). The location confirmation center analyzes received information and estimates the location of the mobile terminal(S69).
