PURPOSE: A method for fixing a phase in accordance with a mode of a television signal is provided to synchronize a field phase of a TV signal exactly by comparing a phase of inputted TV signal with a phase of a TV signal created in a synchronizing signal generating unit. CONSTITUTION: A synchronizing signal separation unit(100) inputs a complex video signal and separates a synchronizing signal from the complex synchronizing signal. A synchronizing signal generating unit(120) generates a signal temporally synchronized with the inputted complex video signal. A chromaticity subcarrier generating unit(130) compounds the synchronized signal and compounds a new signal and separates only a color signal. A chromaticity subcarrier separation unit(140) separates a chromaticity subcarrier signal from an inputted complex video signal. A chromaticity subcarrier comparison unit(150) compares the chromaticity subcarrier separated by the chromaticity subcarrier separation unit(140) with the chromaticity subcarrier output from the chromaticity subcarrier generating unit(130). A reset control unit(110) inputs a signal generated from the chromaticity subcarrier comparison unit(150) and resets the synchronizing signal generating unit(120).
