PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for receiving radio signals in a direct spread CDMA mobile communication system are provided to offer an adaptive receiving apparatus and a method thereof to remove MAI(Multiple Access Interference). CONSTITUTION: The sum of K numbers of user signals is converted into a baseband signal(r(t)) and inputted to an SRM(Symbol-level Rake MMSE) receiver. On the basis of the input signal(r(t)), a rake receiver in the SRM receiver acquires the timing of each path and demodulates it as the input signals of a chip matched filter bank(203). The chip-level output signals outputted from the chip matched filter bank(203) are inputted to a symbol matched filter bank(205). The symbol matched filter bank(205) demodulates the inputted signals using each user's code sequence. The output signals of the symbol matched filter bank(205) are inputted to a hi-speed router(207).
