PURPOSE: A detent device improves detent operation and gearshift quality on switching a selector lever of a sports mode automatic transmission between automatic mode and manual mode and reduces the number of parts to simplify composition thereof. CONSTITUTION: A detent device has a detent member between two installation brackets(21, 21') formed protrusively on both sides of the lower part of a selector lever(2) facing each other and a supporting member formed on a bidirectional hinge axis case(20) so that one side of the supporting member rotatably supports one side of the middle part of the detent member. The detent member has a turn point to execute stable detent operation.
