PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator that has operating performance and timing adjustable in multiphase fashion while maintaining versatility, a minimal number of seal structures and easy manufacture due to a simple structure. SOLUTION: The gas generator for an air bag includes, in a cylindrical housing longer axially than radially, two combustion chambers for storage of two ignition means operated on impact and gas generating means ignited and combusted by the ignition means. The combustion chambers are defined at both ends of the housing. Between both combustion chambers, a filter means storage chamber is provided for storage of filter means. Either combustion chamber and the filter means storage chamber communicate with each other. |
