PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifeline for elevator maintenance work, capable of mounting directly on a main rope without damaging the main rope. SOLUTION: This lifeline for elevator maintenance work comprises a preset- length rope portion 2, a metal hook 3 secured to one end of the rope portion 2, and a band mounting portion 4 for maintenance worker formed at the other end of the rope portion 2. A protecting cover 5 is provided on the hook for preventing damage to the main rope when the hook 3 is secured directly to the main rope of an elevator.
