PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for recording/reproducing a digital broadcasting signal is provided to record by selecting one channel out of many channels and select and reproduce a recorded channel having no error in the case that PSI or PSIP information including information of many channels is stored. CONSTITUTION: A packet selection unit extracts only an A/V packet of a channel selected by a user and a PSI packet needed at a channel selection out of many channels inputted to a demultiplexer(30). A buffer unit temporarily stores a non-continuously inputted packet and continuously outputs the packet. When the user watches a broadcasting and performs a video recording of another channel broadcasting simultaneously or performs a reservation video recording, if a stream multiplexed by the demultiplexer(30) is inputted, an audio/video packet selected by a user for a recording and a packet stream having PSI information out of the multiplexed streams are extracted through the packet selection unit and outputs to the buffer unit. The buffer unit stores a randomly inputted packet of a channel successively and outputs the packet to a DVCR(8) through the IEEE1394 interface unit(6).
