PURPOSE: An electric motor having cooling unit is provided to achieve an improved cooling efficiency of the motor by mounting an axial flow fan between a stator stacked portion and a stator coil. CONSTITUTION: An electric motor comprises a stator assembly having a stator stacked portion(41) and a stator coil(42); a rotor assembly(43) rotating within the stator assembly; a driving shaft(44) connected to the center of the rotor assembly so as to transfer power; an axial flow fan(45) coupled to the driving shaft between the stator stacked portion and the stator coil and which rotates at the rotational frequency same as that of the rotor assembly so as to cool the stator stacked portion and the stator coil; a bearing(46) for suppressing vibration at the upper and lower portions of the driving shaft; a bearing housing(47) for protecting the bearing; a support member(48) interposed between the axial flow fan and the bearing housing so as to support the axis flow fan; an end shield(49) for supporting the bearing housing and which has a dimple shaped groove(49a) so as to increase surface area; a plurality of air holes(50) for air inlet/outlet; and a radial fan(51) rotating beneath the motor.
