PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to reduce manufacturing cost by employing a one-chip control circuit using application specified integrated circuit(ASIC), while eliminating the necessity of using micro computer, transformer or crystal oscillator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a compressor(600); a defrost heater(700); a damper(1000); a key input unit(900) having a quick cooling key for user input; a sensing unit(200) for sensing the indoor state of the refrigerator; and a one-chip control circuit(300) including an operation condition set unit(301) for comparing the output from the sensing unit with the reference value for discriminating refrigerator operation condition, and outputting the comparison result, a control signal generating unit(302) having a defrost timer and a logic circuit for accumulatively counting operation time of the compressor and outputting the counting result, and which outputs a control signal for controlling operation of the compressor and defrost heater in accordance with the output from the defrost timer and the result of operation of the output from the operation condition set unit and the quick cooling signal input through the key input unit, wherein the operation is performed through the logic circuit, a clock signal generating unit(303) for generating a reference clock pulse for operating the control signal generating unit, and a regulator(304) for converting commercial AC power into DC power of a predetermined level for operating internal circuit.
