1,253,924. Azo-peroxy compounds. WALLACE & TIERNAN Inc. 31 Jan., 1969 [6 Feb., 1968], No. 5495/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Novel azo-peroxy compounds of the general formula wherein m is 1 or 2, n is 1 to 20, R<SP>1</SP> is a radical of the formula or X is a peroxy containing radical selected from CO.OO.R 3 , OCO.OO.R 3 , C(R 1 )R 1 .OO.R 3 , -CO.OO.CO-, -OOH, -O.CO.OO.CO.O, and -CO.OO.C(R 1 ) 2 .R 5 .C(R 1 ) 2 .OO.CO-; Y is -CO.O- or -O.CO-; R 1 is an aliphatic radical having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R 2 is R 1 OCO, H 2 NCO-, R 1 - , R 1 -O-, R 1 O.CO-, R 1 CO.O-, ArO-, ArCO.O-, NC-, N 3 -, Cl- or Br, where Ar is an aromatic radical of 6 to 12 C atoms; R 3 is C 4-10 tertiary aliphatic radical; R 5 is C 1-10 aliphatic diradical; R 6 is C 1-10 aliphatic diradical or C 6-12 aromatic diradical; R 1 and R 5 together with the tertiary carbon atom in R<SP>1</SP> may form a cycloaliphatic triradical and R is a tertiary aliphatic radical having 4 to 10 C atoms, R<SP>1</SP>-X or R<SP>1</SP> when m is 1, and X is a diradical are prepared by one of the following methods:- (a) the peroxidation of suitable substituted aliphatic azo compounds; (b) the coupling of peroxides and aliphatic azo compounds each containing functional groups that will interact to link the azo to the peroxide, for example esterification, etherification, and carbonate formation. |
