PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clothes drier preventing execution of a hot-air supply operation while it makes users feel discomfort. SOLUTION: An operation control means 51 selectively executes a clothes drying operation in which a rotating drum with clothes contained therein is supplied with hot air to dry the clothes, and a heating operation in which the hot air supplied into the rotating drum is supplied indoors to provide indoor heating. A clothes presence detecting means 53 determines whether or not clothes are contained in the rotating drum 3, according to detection signals of a door switch 11, an exhaust temperature thermistor 14, an exhaust pressure sensor 24 and an electrode sensor 13. When the clothes presence detecting means 53 detects that the clothes are contained in the rotating drum 3, a heating operation inhibiting means 52 inhibits execution of the heating operation and the operation control means 51 reports an abnormality.
