PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive rear view mirror drive controlling system turning a specular angle of a rear view mirror 5 downward when shifting a transmission 4 to a back position, and certainly returning the specular angle to an original angle when shifting the transmission to any position except for the back position. SOLUTION: This rear view mirror drive controlling system comprises, a mirror operating instrument 2 displacing a rear view mirror specular angle, a back position detecting portion 3 producing a back position signal when a transmission 4 is in a back position, a controlling portion 1 displacing the mirror specular angle on the bases of a state of a mirror operating instrument 2 and a detected result whether the back position signal is existent or not, a mirror angle detecting portion 6 producing an angle detecting signal indicating the mirror specular angle, and a mirror angle memory portion 7 memorizing the angle detecting signal. The controlling portion 1 memorizes the angle detecting signal produced by the mirror angle detecting 6 in the mirror angle memory portion 7 for each displacement of the mirror specular angle when the back detecting signal is not produced. The controlling portion 1 displaces the mirror specular angle downward the back detecting signal is produced, and returns the mirror specular angle to a specular angle on the basis of a new angle detecting signal memorized in the mirror angle memory portion 7 when the back detecting signal is stopped.
