APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING ASPECT RATIO OF SCREEN OF DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER

PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically controlling the aspect ratio of a screen of a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to convert the aspect rate of sub screen inputted in accordance with the aspect rate of main screen automatically. CONSTITUTION: A host interface unit(101) outputs a horizontal/vertical size/location signal by interfacing a screen aspect rate designated by a user and a control signal in accordance with a horizontal/vertical size/location. An external interface unit(102) outputs an aspect rate signal of the external video input and video data by interfacing the external video input selected by the user. A video decoding unit(103) outputs an aspect rate signal of the ATV input and video data by decoding the external ATV input selected by the user. A frame memory(104) temporarily stores the video data output from the external interface unit(102) and the video decoding unit(103). A screen size/location converting unit(105) converts the aspect rate signals output from the external interface unit(102) and the video decoding unit(103) into a signal corresponded to the aspect rate signal output from the host interface unit(101) and outputs a horizontal/vertical size/location signal. A format converting unit(106) converts the video data stored in the frame memory(104) into main and sub screen display formats in accordance with the aspect rate signal output from the screen size/location converting unit(105). In addition, the format converting unit(106) outputs a sub screen image on a predetermined size and portion of an ATV image of the main screen in accordance with the horizontal/vertical size/location signal.
