PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling reliable traffic information using probe car is provided to improve reliability of the traffic information collected by sensing vehicle on same lane approximative to the probe car. CONSTITUTION: Two scanning sensors(220,230) are located on one side of a probe car transversally with predetermined space and sense transversal pass vehicles. A signal processing unit(250) analyzes the output signals from the two scanning sensors, calculates velocities of the transversal pass vehicles and generates the transversal pass vehicle informations using the velocities of the transversal pass vehicles. A transmitter(270) unit transmits the transversal pass vehicle informations. An acceptive sensing range of the scanning sensors is controlled within width of one lane.
