PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of smoothly performing fermentation/ageing treatment. SOLUTION: Preset water content is used as a threshold value and the stirring pattern of a material to be treated by a stirring means is controlled so as to be altered between such a case that the water content of the treating material is higher than the threshold value and such a case that the water content of the treating material is lower than the threshold value, and a threshold value in such a case the water content of the treating material changes in an increase direction and a threshold value in such a case that the water content of the treating material changes in a decrease direction are set to different values.
