FLOCCULANT COMPOSITION FOR WATER TREATMENT AND APPLICATION THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the concentration of dissolved aluminum in water treated with an aluminum based flocculant, particularly in service water to the concentration considered to be safe for health. SOLUTION: Suspended impurities are removed by flocculation using a hydrated titanium oxide colloid solution deflocculated by hydrochloric acid as a base together with a small content of basic aluminum chloride (PCA) or aluminum sulfate (LAS). The clarifying property matching for the single use of the aluminum based flocculant and the decreased concentration of the dissolved aluminum are attained by using the aluminum based flocculant of Al2O3 combined with the colloidal solution so that Al2O3/(TiO2+Al2O3) ratio is 2-15% expressed in term of TiO2.
