PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to reduce power consumption and manufacturing cost by employing a one-chip control circuit using application specified integrated circuit(ASIC), while eliminating the necessity of using a micro computer, transformer or a crystal oscillator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a compressor(600); an evaporator; a defrost heater(700); a sensing unit(200) for sensing the indoor state of the refrigerator; a one-chip control circuit(300) including an operation condition set unit(301) for comparing the output from the sensing unit with the reference value and outputting the comparison result, a control signal generating unit(302) for outputting a control signal for controlling cooling air inflow and operation of the compressor or defrost heater in accordance with the output from the operation condition set unit, a regulator(304) for converting commercial AC power into DC power of a predetermined level for operating internal circuit, and an abnormality determination unit(305) for determining abnormality of the output voltage from the regulator or the temperature of the one-chip control circuit; and a damper(800) for adjusting cooling air flow rate in accordance with the output from the one-chip control circuit.
