PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to reduce power consumption and improve energy efficiency by displaying refrigerator operation state through a one-chip control circuit using application specified integrated circuit(ASIC). CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a compressor(600); a defrost heater(700); a sensing unit(200) for sensing the indoor state of the refrigerator and selecting the indoor temperature desired by a user; a display(800) for displaying the refrigerator operation state in accordance with the indoor temperature selected through the sensing unit; and a one-chip control circuit(300) including a display driving unit(308) for outputting a signal for displaying the refrigerator operation state onto the display, an operation condition set unit(301) for comparing the output from the sensing unit with the reference value and outputting the comparison result, a control signal generating unit(302) for outputting a control signal for controlling operation of the compressor or defrost heater in accordance with the output from the operation condition set unit, a regulator(304) for converting commercial AC power into DC power of a predetermined level for operating internal circuit, and an abnormality determination unit(305) for determining abnormality of the output voltage from the regulator or the temperature of the one-chip control circuit.
