METHOD FOR TREATING EXCESS SLUDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently dissolving organic excess sludge and reducing the volume of the excess sludge. SOLUTION: When organic excess sludge generated from the treatment of waste water with activated sludge is treated, (1) the excess sludge is milled by a wet mill 4, then treated with an alkali in an alkali treating tank 5 charged with the alkali, controlled to >pH 11 and returned to the activated-sludge treatment. Otherwise, (2) the excess sludge is milled by the wet mill, admixed with proteolytic enzyme before or after the milling and then returned to the activated-sludge treatment.
