DUCHESNEA CHRYSANTHA EXTRACT AS ANTIOXIDANT

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for obtaining Duchesnea chrysantha extract which serves as an antioxidant, prevents DNA from being disrupted by ultra violet radiation and is useful in developing medicines against aging, cancer, multiple atherosclerosis, arthritis, and Parkinson's disease. CONSTITUTION: The method for obtaining Duchesnea chrysantha extract is comprised of the next steps of: i) boiling Duchesnea chrysantha in distilled water for one hour; ii) adding chloroform to the distilled water and mixing the mixture for one hour; iii) keeping the mixture at 4 deg.C for eight hours; iv) adding ethanol in an amount of 0.5-1.5 times as much as distilled water; v) adding ethanol in an amount of 2-4 times as much as supernatant to extract solvent and sediments; and vi) implementing gel filtration chromatography to obtain highly purified Duchesnea chrysantha extract.
