PURPOSE: A locking device of a portable cashbox is provided to prevent workers or managers from taking out money during collecting the cashbox and to reduce a manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: A locking device of the portable cashbox includes a shutter(30), a locking part(20) and a return spring(40). The shutter extends in front and rear directions and selectively opens a slit for receiving money. The locking part has a lock shaft(62) and a lock plate(50) rotating on a hinge within a prescribed angle and having a jaw coupled with the lock shaft. The slit is opened by selective movement of the shutter. The return spring returns the shutter into original position when external force is not applied. Only when the jaw of the lock plate is coupled to the lock shaft, the shutter can move in a horizontal direction. When the shutter is moved in the horizontal direction, the coupling of the jaw between the lock shaft and the lock plate is released.
