<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationally exercise temperature rising of an exhaust gas or NOx absorber for releasing an attached sulfur component from the NOx absorber in an exhaust emission passage, while suppressing fuel consumption deterioration, torque drop, and smoke generation. SOLUTION: At high load, the temperature of exhaust gas is raised by dividedly injecting fuel, and in a low load, the temperature of exhaust gas is raised by conducting dividing injection of the fuel and the lag of ignition timing. In the high load, in which the temperature of the exhaust gas is already high and the temperature rise of the exhaust gas is not needed so much, only the divided injection is conducted in the low load in which the temperature of the exhaust gas is still low and the temperature rising of the exhaust gas is considerably needed, retard is conducted together with divided injection, and temperature rising of the exhaust gas or a catalyst device is efficiently, surely conducted, while nonconformities such as deterioration for fuel consumption, drop in torque, smoke generation accompanting the temperature rising of the exhaust gas for releasing sulfur are suppressed.</p> |
