PURPOSE: A method for improving a definition of a TV is provided to enhance an image quality by providing different color temperatures in accordance with the kind of an inputted signal without additional hardware. CONSTITUTION: If a user selects a video signal to be displayed through a remote controller and a local key, a micro computer received the signal outputs a proper control signal to a switching unit and a signal converting and amplifying unit, and displays the video signal to a color picture tube(CPT). If the video signal is a PC signal input, the micro computer sets a color temperature as 6500K for identifying a color and a brightness varying characteristic with a monitor to be displayed on the CPT, and performs a gamma correction of an output of the CPT into an output of the monitor. If the video signal is not a PC signal input, the micro computer sets a color temperature as 9300K for forming a color and a brightness varying characteristic corresponded to a general TV signal, and adjusts in detail as a gamma characteristic. The micro computer sets the color temperature to control the R,G,B gain value of the signal converting and amplifying unit. The gamma characteristic is corrected by changing a value of a gamma characteristic control unit of a signal conversion circuit portion of the signal converting and amplifying unit and a value of a look up table.
