PURPOSE: A method and a device for performing standard penetration test(SPT) are provided to automatically and collectively perform all test procedures after preparation of the SPT. CONSTITUTION: A method for automatically performing standard penetration test includes the steps of automatically pulling up and rising a hammer by an automatic pulling-up and falling device, separating the hammer from the automatic pulling-up and dropping device and freely lowering, measuring the number of strike of the hammer and accumulatively storing in a controller, measuring a penetration amount of a sampler and storing in the controller, comparing the penetration amount of the sampler with a standard value set in the controller and determining whether or not to progress the penetration test, calculating N value if the penetration amount reaches the standard value, and recording and outputting test data.
