PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial foundation capable of maintaining vibration isolation efficiency even when there are variations in additional construction of building or extension and alteration of building. SOLUTION: An artificial foundation 10 is constituted of a lower footing plate 14 constructed on the ground 12, a vibration isolating device 16 provided on the lower footing plate 14 and an upper footing plate 18 borne by the vibration isolating device 16. The vibration isolating device 16 includes a basic vibration isolating device 16A arranged in correspondence with the artificial foundation 10 itself and an additional vibration isolating device 16B corresponding with a building 28 constructed on the upper footing plate 18.
