PURPOSE: A method for operating a prepaid card is provided to automatically fill up balance of the prepaid card to a predetermined amount of money by a credit card linked with the prepaid card. CONSTITUTION: A user of a prepaid card specifies a credit card to be linked for an automatic filling up service(302), minimum balance limit for a virtual settlement account of the prepaid card(303) and minimum limit of money automatically filled up to the account(304). The balance of the account is compared with money requested for payment approval in case of a request for payment from the prepaid card(306). If the balance overs the request money(307), the request money is subtracted from the balance of the account(308) and payment for the request money is approved(309). If the balance is smaller than the request money(307), the automatic filling up service of difference between the balance and the request money is requested (310). If the credit card linked to the account is valid(311), the balance is automatically filled up to the difference by the credit card(312).
