PURPOSE: A spark gap device is provided, in which the periphery of the clearance of lead wire frame inserted into an insulator is vacuumized, to thereby achieve a maximized efficiency of the device. CONSTITUTION: A lead wire frame(1) has an upper end which is cut prior to the coating of an insulation material(2) so as to form a clearance(3). The clearance is filled with paraffin(4), and the insulating material is coated onto the resultant structure and heated. Thus, the paraffin arranged within the insulating material melts and infiltrates into the insulating material, to thereby vacuumize(5) the clearance where the paraffin was located. Thus, a maximized efficiency of the spark gap device is obtained.
